Abstract
The development and testing of a novel, oligomeric calcium carbonate inhibitor is described. Designed to substitute for organic-phosphonates in low-phosphorus, alkaline cooling water treatment programs, this novel inhibitor has excellent chlorine and soluble iron tolerance, provides scale deposition inhibition at conditions of high pH and high scaling indices and can replace polymeric zinc stabilizers in organic-zinc programs. Static and dynamic recirculator data are shown comparing the efficacy of the new inhibitor compared with industry standard inhibitors including organic phosphonates and polymers.
