Abstract
Frequent gas leakage due to external corrosion has been observed on an underground protected gas pipeline within one & half years after commissioning. Both on-site examination & failure analysis at laboratory have been carried out. Present study depicts technical details of transient/steady state stray current sources, AC switching & lightning surges, distorted anodic gradient and foreign anode bed proximity effects.
