Abstract
Corrosion engineering and cathodic protection is a many faceted profession. This paper is an effort to define some practices of the corrosion engineer. Particular emphasis is being given to an overview of the changes in the industry with emphasis on the last twenty-five (25) years. As in other business areas, this has been a period of changes in our knowledge, work procedures, criterion and choice of materials and equipment.
This is a paper of history and opinion. The technical analysis, formula, accumulation of data and other definitive concerns will be left to other authors.
