Abstract
Laboratory studies comparing chloride profile data to predictions obtained using ASTM C 1202 (Test Method for Electrical Indication of Concrete's Ability to Resist Chloride Ion Penetration), to predict chloride diffusion into concrete are given in this paper. The diffusion coefficients derived from these data can be used to determine long-term chloride profiles of concrete structures. Equations have been developed relating diffusion coefficients with resistivity and permeability of concrete. One- and two-dimensional models were used to determine chloride profiles of chloride ions entering concrete, in structures such as square piles and decks.
