Abstract
The selection of CRA's is of great importance to the safe and economic operation of oilfield equipment. The differing modes of degradation suffered by the many generic types of alloys which are available makes comparisons of their corrosion and cracking behaviour complicated. This paper aims to summarise the strengths and weaknesses of the various alloy groups, provide factual information on the limits of their use and review the test techniques and other selection tools that are available to match the appropriate alloy with the anticipated service environment.
