Abstract
The use of corrosion tests to assure quality of oil and gas production equipment is gaining popular acceptance among both manufacturers and end users. This paper reviews the current status of oil/gas related specifications and test methods from the standpoint of quality assurance as it is presently evolving. Advantages and drawbacks of the commonly used test methods are presented.
The task at hand is to increase our awareness of the importance of standards, specifications, and test methods as they relate to petroleum production operations. Inter-laboratory testing will be required to document the precision and accuracy of future QA tools. Technical scrutiny and statistical verification of existing test methods may be required to ensure quality assurance of production equipment.
