Abstract
Corrosion inhibitors can improve the pitting resistance of both AISI 410 and duplex stainless steel in CO2 containing solutions. Also, inhibitors improved stress corrosion cracking resistance. In H2S containing solutions, the corrosion rates were higher and pitting corrosion did not occur in the absence of inhibitors. Some inhibitors can provide passive type behavior of 410 stainless steel in H2S containing environments, thus providing the typical pitting behavior in cyclic polarization curves.
