FMC currently sells 4130 and 4140 steel pipe with INCONEL® alloy 625 (UNS N06625) weld overlay for Oil Patch applications. INCONEL alloy 725 (UNS N07725), because of its higher strength, is currently being evaluated as a replacement material for alloy 625. The 4130 and 4140 steels are stress relieved in the aging range of alloy 725, making it easy to produce the high strength product. Mechanical properties and Slow Strain Rate test results for the alloy 725 weld overlay are discussed relative to the alloy 625 weld overlay.
