The objective of this work was to study the effect of Aluminum corrosion products, used as sacrificial anodes embedded in reinforced concrete structures. The evaluation of these anodes was done, using differents mortar designs and anodes geometry, by electrochemical techniques, and at field level, exposing concrete pilings, which are cathodically protected, in the Maracaibo Lake water. The results indicate that the Aluminium anode, embedded in mortar with 16.5% and 20.0% porosity, and 0.1% Cl-, can protect the reinforcing steel in concrete with no cracks in it, after almost three years of evaluation.
