An Atmospheric Corrosion Rate Monitor (ACRM) with an improved design polarization resistance type sensor was evaluated as a time-of-wetness meter. A year of hourly average sensor data were correlated with simultaneously collected environmental data at a site in the Research Triangle Park, NC. Sensor responses to wetness are reproducible between sensors and are sensitive enough to detect significant environmental changes. The most important parameter in determining when a surface is wet is the difference between dew point and surface temperature. The system can be used as a time-of-wetness meter.
