Abstract
The objective of the present research is to study practical cases of corrosion in reinforced concrete structures, indicating the causes and their respective solutions. Two types of systems were choosen:
Structures exposed to marine environment.
Buildings in a rural environment.
Initially, an inspection was carried out to determine the causes of reinforcement's corrosion which led to the premature deterioration of the structures. The inspection was made using the hammer method, potential measurements and physical - chemical analysis in core drill samples. Based on these results, corrosion control methods were choosen, taking into account their effectiveness and viability in the country.
