Abstract
Cathodic protection has been used on underground radioactive waste lines at the Hanford Site for over 40 years. Studies were performed at the time the cathodic protection system was installed. A review of some of the historical studies and findings will be presented, including a description of the old cathodic protection system. In addition, a description of the new system, a typical cathodic protection installation, improvements of the new system over the old system, some operating experience with the new system, and recommendations will also be presented.
