Abstract
In 1970 the INA crude oil pipeline was constructed from Opatovac to Bosanski Brod in law-land between the rivers Danube and Sava in Yugoslavia. The pipeline is spiral welded 16" and 207 km long. It is tape coated over the ditch. For outerwrap bituminous craft paper was used. In 1983 the pipeline was bellholed and one sample of tape coating was taken. This sample was left forgotten in the laboratory. After several years on this very sample there was observed unexpected "memory" of the tape.
The oil line is cathodically protected. From the cathodic protection maintenance data, an average protective current density is evaluated as function of the time of burial underground.
