Abstract
API 13%Cr steel Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) has poor low-temperature toughness, which slows wide application of them in CO2 wells in cold districts. To meet the demand for expanding 13%Cr steel OCTG in such wells, a new ausforming-and-tempering process was developed. Thirteen percent Cr OCTG manufactured with ausforming process, the size being 73.0mm (2-7/8inches) in diameter and 5.50mm (0.217inch) in wall thickness, showed good resistance to sulfide stress corrosion cracking, besides outstanding low-temperature toughness: 80J (60ft-lb) at 0°C (32°F) of the ausformed 13%Cr steel compared with 40J (30ft-lb) of the API 13%Cr steel, and 11.4 x 104psi in Sc of the former steel compared with 9.0 x 104psi of the latter.
