Abstract
The application of cathodic protection using the criteria contained in NACE's RP01-69 (re- vised) has significantly reduced corrosion failures on buried and submerged structures. In many cases, however, corrosion can be mitigated at lower cathodic protection levels than indicated by RP01-69. Significant economies can be realized without significantly increasing the risk of corrosion. Procedures used to qualify less conservative criteria are presented.
