Abstract
The corrosion resistance of Atlas Alloy 958 (J93404) a cast duplex stainless steel with 25Cr-4.5Mo-7Ni-0.2N, was evaluated in chloride-containing environments. The crevice corrosion resistance of the alloy was determined in both the welded and unwelded conditions. Potentiostatic and potentiodynamic tests in synthetic seawater (ASTM D 1141) and in a sodium chloride solution were employed to evaluate the pitting corrosion resistance of the alloy. The sulfide stress cracking resistance of the alloy was evaluated in the NACE solution.
