Abstract
22 ~ 25%Cr α-γ duplex phase stainless steels are suitable for CO2-brine system. The pitting resistance in the ferric chloride test at 30°C is improved by means of regulating alloying elements both in a pitting index and a fraction of austenite phase. As concerning the duplex stainless steel, it is preferable to include the term of nitrogen content in the expression of pitting index, e.g. P.I. = Cr + 3Mo + 16N.
By the newly developed welding materials, the pitting resistance of welds could be improved.
Influence of H2S and O2 contamination on CO2 corrosion of duplex stainless steels are also discussed.
