Abstract
Recirculating cooling water control parameters of pH, calcium hardness, total alkalinity, chloride, and sulfate ion concentrations are defined for totally organic, non-polluting corrosion inhibitors which consist of polymer, phosphonate, and triazole blends. An adjusted Ryznar stability index, a measure of the corrosive tendencies of recirculating cooling waters, is used to determine treatment efficacy. Effects of microbiological growth upon these parameters are discussed, including a detailed discussion of Leptothrix bacteria.
