Coating work is a term which encompasses surface preparation, coating materials, application, and inspection. Coating work costs and estimating must necessarily include the same factors. The costs related to these factors are constantly changing. Both material and labor costs have increased rapidly over the last several years.

This paper will present current cost data and estimating procedures for industrial coating work. The need for coating inspection work undertaken in a coatings job is reviewed.
