Abstract
The SSCC resistance of AISI 410 and 420 type 13% Cr steels were studied in relation to their microstructures. Two types of the SSCC tests and the optical and electron microscopic observation were conducted on eight laboratory heats and a few mill products. The SSCC tests revealed the higher SSCC resistance of 420 steels over 410 steels. From the results of microscopic observation, the superiority of 420 steels was attributed mainly to the improvement of substructures introduced by the higher carbon content.
