B.P test is the laboratory test to compare the susceptibility to HIC for linepipe steels (1,2), but it is impossible to predict from the results of this test the possibility of the service failures such as oil leakage or bursting of pipe in the oil or gas transmission pipelines. It is generally assumed that the pipes with the high susceptibility to HIC are more dangerous for the bursting than the pipes with the low susceptibility.
