Abstract
With the exception of certain magnesium and zinc alloys covered by US Military Specifications the majority of sacrificial anode alloys are proprietary compositions. Some of the alloying elements are deliberate additions and others impurities from the raw materials.
This paper reviews the major alloy groups and outlines the importance of the alloy components and the effects on alloy performance.
