Nuclear energy, once considered a clean and boundless energy source, is now being severely criticized and declaimed by the public. The less radical critics of nuclear energy focus on two legitimate technical issues of concern: biological effects of low-level radiation and management of radioactive waste. The last-named of these issues, management of radioactive waste, is the topic to which this paper is directed.
