The applicability of accelerated laboratory tests to the determination of pitting and crevice corrosion resistance has been questioned for many years.(1-10) Conflicting results have been reported with the use of different test methods(11-24) and different alloy compositions within the austenitic and ferritic stainless steel classifications.(1-6,11,12,15,19,21,22,24)
