The shift to lighter weight automobiles has resulted in a renewed interest in the use of aluminum heat exchangers. Due to the highly specific action of corrosion inhibitors, presently used inhibited coolants are not satisfactory for aluminum radiators or heater cores. Therefore, a study was undertaken to determine the inhibitor/coolant requirements for long-term, trouble-free service with aluminum cooling system components.
