Increased energy demand and recent shortages are providing a major incentive to exploit various energy reserves. With the rise in the price of energy, several unconventional fossil fuel projects are becoming economically feasible. Among these projects, the production from deep sour gas wells and the enhanced recovery of petroleum reserves appear to be the most promising. Furthermore, of the enhanced recovery techniques, carbon dioxide injection is expected to provide a large portion of the potentially recoverable oil.(1)
