Over the years there have been many and varied instances of fossil boiler pressure part damage from waterside and steam-side corrosion. Both industrial and utility boilers have been adversely effected by these corrosion problems; although, because of the great differences in operating pressures and water conditons, certain types of corrosion are much more likely to occur in industrial boilers, while other types are mostly confined to utility boiler units. With the increasing operating pressures in many modern industrial boilers, the distinction between the two becomes less clear.
