A fable is a narrative that may or may not be based on truth, fact or actual happening. Fables are generally written for purposes of instruction and often contain a useful truth which is to be emphasized. Aesop, a writer of ancient Greece, is associated with many fables which have been collected and compiled in book form by various writers from time to time. All of the events related herein are based on actual happenings that occurred in relation to chemical cleaning service work. They have been designated as fables because each incident relates, in a hidden manner, a valuable point-that needs to be stressed in such work. Some were due to mistakes in understanding - today we call it a break-down in communications: some of the events represent failure to realize the importance of safety regulations whereas others will be seen to be due to failure to keep proper perspective on basic technological fundamentals. In all cases, it has been attempted to portray the subject matter in a humorous manner. Thus while we may be laughing at the mistakes of others, it is hoped that subconsciously we will be more strongly impressed with the salient lesson to be gained. All names used herein are fictitious in every case.
