Historically the chemistry of polyurethanes is not new -- it has been around almost half a century. And, during the past 20 years the growth of these coatings in the U.S. has been slow. Early demands were aimed at satisfying the need for floor finishes. This led to the development of moisture cured aromatic formulations. While they were highly successful for interior use, initial resin compositions had shortcomings when used as exterior finishes, such as yellowing and early chalking.
