Inhibitors have been used in petroleum-based products for the prevention of ferrous metal corrosion for many years. Large quantities of rust preventative products are used by industry and the military to minimize metal corrosion which is one of our greatest sources of economic loss. These inhibitors are used in various petroleum bases including oils, solvents and waxes to serve as temporary or semi-permanent protection for ferrous products from sheet steel to precision instruments.
