Corrosion problems in the electronics industry frequently differ from those in other industries because of the miniaturization brought on by the thin film and integrated circuit technologies. The dimensions in these technologies are so small that micro amounts of corrosion and micro quantities of corrosion products can cause serious degradation in electrical properties or even total failure of a device.
