Earlier studies (1-6) provided data on the corrosion characteristics and the response to cathodic protection of the 300 series, 400 series, and precipitation hardened (PH) stain- less steel alloys in seawater. The detrimental effects of some levels of cathodic polarization on 17-4 PH stainless steel were also previously reported (2,4,6).
