The purpose of this paper is to consider meeting D.O.T. requirements for external corrosion control on bare or poorly coated distribution piping installed before August 1, 1971. We will consider the economics of magnesium anodes, Impressed current systems using rectifiers and, as a more economical method, the Surface Potential Survey with Hot Spot Protection to meet the requirements.
