The interest in ocean depths has generally increased since the first man set foot on the moon and conquered that goal. Now that a worldwide mineral, energy, food, and pollution crisis seems to exist, the ocean bottom from shoreline to abyss is becoming increasingly important to engineers. No matter what man wants to do in the sea, he has to design and build a structure that will withstand the elements. His problems have just begun.
