A "critical materials" list was compiled in 1963 to develop a corrosion monitoring program for alloys in the N-Reactor cooling systems.1 The list provided a number of specific environments in which the alloys were particularly susceptible to failure. Many of the alloys were included in the listing because specific quantitative information on their behavior at N-Reactor conditions was not available.
