This presentation is about the corrosion problems encountered on the C-130 "Hercules" aircraft and the evolution of a finish system designed to combat these problems. Similar problems have occurred on other types of aircraft such as fighters, bombers, as well as cargo types which are stationed in corrosive areas like South East Asia and in marine environments. The latest development in improved finishes is an inhibited elastomeric system. This system is now being applied to these aircraft in an ever increasing number due to its excellent performance in service.
