My presentation may, at first, seem a little off beat for a gathering of corrosion engineers, but I think you will see how many of the governmental rules and regulations applicable to the paint and protective coatings industry will also have a substantial impact on some of your activities and responsibilities as corrosion engineers. My purpose is not to editorialize, but to present existing facts to you and to speculate a bit about what the future holds in the way of governmental rules and regulations directed toward our industry. I must admit it is difficult not to editorialize on this subject, as some of the more recent regulations seem to me to be quite arbitrary.
