The early explanations of Cathodic Protection were based on activity associated with ’’positive” or "conventional” current. This current is assumed to involve the flow of positive charges from the positive pole to the negative pole in the metallic circuit. Now, however, the electron theory is the accepted explanation of the mechanism involved in the transfer of electric charges in the metallic circuit. Nevertheless, we still find fundamental explanations of Cathodic Protection phenomena being based on the transfer of positive charges.
