Oil country corrosion is costing the U.S. petroleum industry in excess of $500 million annually, and operating companies are spending an estimated $30 million a year on chemical inhibitors to control this menacing problem. Probably three times this much is being spent on coatings, cathodic protection, and corrosion resistant alloys.1
