Cement linings in pipe have proven satisfactory in numerous installations over many years. They provide a low cost answer to corrosion protection. It is a rare company which has not utilized cement linings, for they are readily available and can be used with either new or used pipe of any weight. Surface flow lines in particular have included many thousands of cement-lined joints. The principle of this type of corrosion protection is simple--the cement lining acts as an inert barrier between the corrodible steel pipe and the potentially corrosive fluids being transported. (1)
