For many years there has been a concern for methods of testing insulating coatings on buried metallic structures. The increased use of thin film coatings has necessitated the development of new concepts to properly inspect these coatings. Coating manufacturers have approached this problem by limiting their recommendations to a direct current low voltage detector.
