Oil and gas producing companies have tended to become highly diversified in recent years. In many companies the diversification process has proceeded until the management is essentially money management and the individuals may not be familiar with producing operations. Where familiarity exists, the actual operations decision making is frequently delegated so that money management for profit is unencumbered, This situation requires all proposals to be in "money language" for consideration. It is to the advantage of operations personnel for the conversion from operations to money language to occur at the point of origin of the proposal. This chapter provides several degrees of capability in this regard.
