The original ten steam generators of the Hanford N Reactor, a pressurized water, dual-purpose reactor operated for the Atomic Energy Commission by Douglas United Nuclear, Inc., were provided with 304 stainless steel tubes. Since that time N Reactor has been following a program of replacing these tubes with Inconel-600. The first retubed generator went into service in 1964. At present, eight of the original ten steam generators have been retubed with Inconel-600 and two additional steam generators have been procured with Inconel-600 tubing, giving a total of ten with Inconel-600 tubes and two with 304 stainless steel tubes.
