It has been apparent to those who are well Informed that exterior coatings as used on buried pipe have fallen short, by varying measure, of the ultimate goals established in the minds of corrosion engineers, design engineers, and construction personnel. Certainly, very few end uses for coatings require so many plus performance properties.
