Abstract
Results from laboratory trials of a probe that contains a number of sensors that detect the formation of a biofilm, by its effect on electrical conductivity, and the subsequent build-up of corrosive concentrations of sulphide and/or hydrogen ions at the base of the biofilm will be presented. The sensors are produced using a screen printing process, which should ensure a low cost so that they can, if necessary, be considered expendable and replaceable.
