The prevention of sour pipeline failures is much more than a solitary one-step process. Rather, it is a series of interdependent and on-going, integrated prevention strategies needed to more fully address the potential problems the reader may face during their petroleum industry careers. Each of these steps may require advanced knowledge, training and the involvement of subject matter experts to ensure the key components identified herein are being assessed to a competent and high standard. The protocols described within this paper may help to reduce the probability of sour pipeline failures. This paper chronicles the author's tried, tested and PROVEN strategy to mitigate failures through a sound corrosion management plan to address sour gas production issues.
