Abstract
Nitric acid is a strong oxidizing agent and is corrosive to most metals. Passive metals alloys, such as aluminum, stainless steels, nickel-based alloys, and reactive metals, resist attack in nitric acid under certain conditions. This paper reviews factors that affect the performance of these alloys in nitric acid.
