Abstract
This article discusses the use of 316 SS coupled to carbon steel for seawater service. Current demand and protection potential are briefly described. A few examples of use of 316 SS protected by carbon steel are shown with indicated cost savings. Test results originating from a 2 inch 316 SS pipe showing the extent of internal protection as a function of distance from the carbon steel pipe are shown and discussed.
