Abstract
This paper will describe the development of a new non-zinc alkaline treatment program for the industrial cooling water market. This program relies on the localized corrosion inhibition afforded by a new organic phosphonate compound and new polymer technology. The new phosphonate provides superior localized corrosion inhibition, while the new advanced polymer allows higher system stresses to be reached. The stresses could be any parameter from high calcium and temperature levels to extremely long holding time indexes (HTI’s) to be reached.
