Abstract
Continuing an earlier investigation, a new sealing solution that contains catalytic amount of chromium (1-10μg) was developed. Aluminum alloys 2024-T6 and 6061-T6 coupons were anodized and sealed with the new sealing formulation. Passivation characteristics of these samples were evaluated using potentiodynamic anodic polarization tests. Al 6061-T6 coupons were further subjected to prohesion tests. In this paper, the results obtained from these tests are compared to those obtained by aluminum alloy treated with standard chromate conversion coating.
